The Toro Rosso STR 11 is the third model designed by the Italian team in the turbo-hybrid era. After ending the collaboration with Renault for the power units in 2016 Toro Rosso moved to a Ferrari 059/4 powertrain in conjunction with Red Bull Technology eight speed gearbox and limited slip differential. This configuration allowed Toro Rosso engineers to design a massively narrow car in the back end despite of big air intake for both radiators and airscope. The car resulted quite similar to the sister-in-company Red Bull and showed very good performance in the beginning of the season, then the lack of evolutions through the year, especially in the Ferrari Powertrain, allowed to the team from Faenza nothing better than the 7th overall position in the World Cahmpionship classification. The driver’s lineup for 2016 was to become an iconic one being composed of Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen.

Chassis
The Toro Rosso STR 11 is the first car built by the Italian team in accordance to the new FIA 2018 standards, that introduced the HALO driver protection system. Homologation of the chassis represents a further leap forward, not only in head protection but also in side impact resistance. The regulations governing the dimensions of safety cell impose extreme measures, resulting in a vehicle length that exceeds 5400 mm. This helps fitting drivers up to 190 cm tall in the car with full safety. Formula Olympus retains the original chassis and suspension components of the car, as well as all aerodynamic parts.

The Formula Olympus V8 engine has been developed to deliver the best driving experience with complete safety and confidence. The choice of a naturally aspirated engine brings the opportunity to deliver a linear and intuitive power. Combined with the impressive torque provided by the 4ìliter displacement, handling the car becomes natural and straight-forward. The 700 HP engine allows the car to reach speeds well above 300 km/h with the DRS open, achieving accelerations close to those of the original race-configured car.
Technical data
The electronics of Formula Olympus cars integrate parts of the wiring from the Toro Rosso vehicle with specific components, combining the original car’s ECU with dedicated units for the V8 engine. To best support customers in their learning process with the vehicle, a dual-calibration Traction Control system has been developed for optimal performance and safety. The comprehensive vehicle control strategies protect the integrity of the power-train components, allowing the driver to focus on the driving experience without constant monitoring of vehicle parameters.
The Formula Olympus cars retain the original transmission and rear end of the vehicle. The STR 11 transmission is an 8-speed sequential double-shaft unit with incredible performance, a marvel of technology with extremely compact dimensions. Housed in a load-bearing carbon fiber structure, the original STR 11 transmission weighs only X kg.
Modern F1 cars are entirely controlled by hydraulic systems. Formula Olympus has retained hydraulic controls exclusively for the Power Steering and DRS, while using electromechanical controls for the throttle and transmission. This approach simplifies the operation of the car and provides more efficient startup and warm-up procedures.
The braking system of the STR 11 has been kept intact, so the car features carbon-carbon disc brakes, carbon pads, original cooling ducts, original brake pumps, and the original pedal box. The only component removed is the brake-by-wire system, which is necessary in F1 cars with a Power Unit to balance the hybrid component’s absorption during braking, ensuring there is no excessive rearward bias.
The STR 11 is equipped with Pirelli Driver Academy tires, available in Soft, Medium, and Hard compounds. The sizes used are 245/660 – 13 at the front and 325/660 – 13 at the rear. These tires are the same ones used by F1 teams to train their drivers on the track.

Participation in the “The Ride of Your Life” program requires a minimum level of track experience with any type of car. This experience will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by our staff.
